Stretch Mark Treatments

What are stretch marks? Lots of us have them.  What are they really?  Referred to as 'striae' by the professionals, stretch marks are a form of scarring caused by thinning skin and a loss of elasticity in the deeper levels of your skin.  From fresh red streaks to the older, purplish, shiny flecks, stretch marks commonly effect pregnant women and adolescent girls during growth spurts. The appearance of stretch marks depends on the color of your skin; they can start out pink, reddish brown, brown, or dark brown, and fade over time to a more silvery color. Once stretch marks have appeared, it's essential to treat them as early as possible. Research has focused exclusively on the early stages of stretch marks, when they are still red or purple and most readily respond to treatment. Oh how we all want to get rid of them.  So many different creams and remedies promise solutions, but in reality only a handfull of treatments are effective against stretch marks.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids and Retinol

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) and retinol, both commonly found in many skin care products in UK, are also both known for helping to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Yet, while they do possess some similarities, retinol tends to be bit more potent and is able to repair damage beyond the scope of AHAs. Usually both retinoids and AHA's are used for a variety of skin problems, such acne, anti-aging, wrinkles, and sunspots.

Everything about the Yellow Peel

Retinoic acid peel, or simply yellow peel, belongs to chemical peel with a very short recovery period. Retinoids, synthesized equivalents of vitamin A, regulate the processes of differentiation, proliferation, and intercellular communication. When retinoids get into a cell, they make a bond with nuclear sensors. As a result, particular sections of the cell genome are activated or decelerated.  Since the main effect of retinoids on cells is produced through nuclear sensors (through nuclear receptors and specific molecular activation mechanisms), they can be included in the same category as thyroid and steroid hormones. The main advantages of this treatment are minimal skin damage, a brief recovery period and a low probability of complications. It is no wonder that they are very popular in UK and Ireland right now.

Everything You Wanted to Know About Chemical Peel

Of all mentioned above, chemical peels are the most commonly performed and this procedures are connected with application of various chemical compounds on skin what causes its peeling off and subsequently - its regeneration. The result of the treatment is an improvement in skin appearance as well as reduction of lesions and their consequences.
